Now you can decode digital modes like CW the original and PSK31 – FT8 and JS8Call and others with some really simple hardware and software. We have apps today that you can open next to a radio picking up FT8 and without the internet the app will decode the FT8.  We are in some exciting times and our Projects will give you the ability to actually connect and give signal reports with HAM operators, send & receive QSL cards from them as well.   Ok Space junkies (LEO) Low Earth Orbit Satellites: We are always finding interesting projects for SWL’s and well anyone with interest to give it a go. This project will have you setting up and launching a tiny satellite ground station. LEO satellites are generally less costly to place as they require a great deal less rocket power to place. As compared to geosynchronous orbiting satellites at 36,000 km, LEO travel through a much denser atmosphere and thus experience far more aerodynamic drag. This means they require more power to travel at higher speeds and make corrections to maintain their lower orbits. Commonly used for communications, military reconnaissance, spying and other imaging applications. Most of the man-made objects orbiting earth are in LEO. Satellites made for communications benefit from the lower signal propagation delay to LEO. We know once we get licensed the mode that interest us the most is Digital over the radio. So DMR is on the list for sure along with WinLink, for now let’s focus on how to Decode DMR with the use of FREE software and a TRLSDR Dongle v3 Mat has put together some really good information and nice video. You should be using SDR Sharp Ok here is the info from M0DQW Below: Here I go through setting up SDR # (Sharp) application from Airspy, to decode DMR Digital audio using DSD Plus command line application. Using a specially made plugin, available free of charge, you can now control DSD Plus directly from SDR #. This tutorial already assumes that you have SDR # installed and working with your existing RTL SDR device. You will also need to know any local frequencies to you that broadcast DMR or Digital ...
